The comedian, who was gravely injured in a vehicle accident past year, will host the third episode of SNL’s new season on October 17, Entertainment Weekly reports.

Morgan was treated for broken ribs, a broken nose and a broken leg after the six-car accident in June 2014 in New Jersey involving a Walmart truck that rear-ended his stretch limousine. While his focus at the time was on healing, Morgan added he could not wait “to get back to comedy”. There was no word whether she will double as the musical guest as well.

Morgan was an SNL cast member from 1996 to 2003, returning to host in 2009.

Tracy Morgan will return to Studio 8H on October 17 for his second time as host. Miley Cyrus has the October 3 premiere, and then after that you’ve got appearances from Amy Schumer on October 10 and then Tracy Morgan on the 17th. The next Saturday, Amy Schumer will make her hosting debut.

Last month, the 46 year old gave an emotional account of the harrowing experience on NBC’s “Today” show to Matt Lauer, wondering at one point whether he was ever going to “be amusing again”.

“I wish my friend Tracy Morgan was here tonight, and I know he was hoping he’d be well enough to be here too”, Fey said during the special.
