Traffic hit in Gurgaon, over 1000 cops on streets

Delhi on Wednesday woke up to heavy rainfall causing waterlogging in many areas and massive traffic jams here. Some areas in the city went dark as it began to rain heavily, flooding roads. Commuters are having a harrowing time as vehicular traffic is crawling on roads.

An official at the Delhi airport said there has been a slight delay in departure of flights on account of heavy rains. “2524img29_Aug_2016_PTI8_29_2016_000333B.jpg” data-mep=”1331271″%. The fresh downpour also threw traffic out of gear in several parts of Delhi.

Twitter responded with frustration, anxiety and bleak humour at the predicament.

The weather department has warned of thunderstorms with rain through the day.

There are reports however of major chaos on the roads of the city, which grappled with 12-hour-long jams last month after persistent showers. Both Delhi and Gurgaon traffic police departments issued traffic advisories.

“Heavy rains in Gurgaon, please be advised”. Be patient and maintain lane discipline, we are on the job to facilitate your movements, say Gurgaon Police. The weather office further said that the maximum and minimum temperature on Tuesday would hover around 34 and 26 degrees Celcius respectively.

Gurgaon witnessed waterlogging and traffic snarls.

United States Secretary of State John Kerry’s motorcade to the Indian Institute of Technology, where he delivered an address to students, was also delayed due to water logging. Mr Kerry was caught in traffic also on Monday, when he arrived to jammed roads from the airport to Delhi.

Snarls were seen at Hero Honda Chowk and Signature Tower on the main carriageway of the expressway
