‘Training Day’ TV Show in the Works at CBS
Fast forward to present day, CBS recently OK’d the original director – who also direct the pilot episode and executive produce – Antoine Fuqua to begin creating a pilot for the new TV adaptation. Last August we reported CBS had gotten the rights to the series after a reported bidding war, which should surprise no one who’s watched the Denzel Washington, Ethan Hawke led buddy cop film.

The network has ordered a pilot for a TV series based from the classic cop thriller.
Warner Bros. Television will produce along with Jerry Bruckheimer Television and Fuqua Films.
Gangster Squad screenwriter Will Beall, a former Los Angeles Police Department homicide detective, will write the Training Day pilot; Beall was also previously working on the Lethal Weapon TV reboot before that project landed in the hands of Chuck writer Matt Miller. KristieAnne Reed will serve as co-exec producer. Pictures/Village Roadshow movie was a critical and commercial hit, earning Oscar nominations for both Washington and Hawke, and a win for Washington.

This will be CBS’s third attempt to bring films into living rooms screens. A series based on the Rush Hou r films March 31 as well. They’ve got to be hoping that Training Day isn’t going to go the same way as Fox’s Minority Report as that was cancelled pretty quickly after proving to be a big ratings disappointment.
