Transformers 5 officially titled Transformers: The Last Knight

Paramount Pictures Australia has announced the official title of the next film in the blockbuster franchise from Michael Bay, TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT. Meanwhile, new members of the cast will now include Nickelodeon star Isabela Moner as the lead female character Izabella, as well as Neighbors star Jerrod Carmichael in an undisclosed role.

Accompanying the news in the launch of an Instagram page, whcih features an animated look at the title, complete with Autobot leader Optimus Prime… Sure, Transformers: Age of Extinction may have been a pretty awful film, but it did make a lot of money, and so will this one. Production for The Last Knight is set to begin on June 6th in Detroit and is said to be filmed in a variety of places all around the world. Yep, of course there is, and it’s called The Last Knight. While we weren’t given any further details on the meaning behind the moniker, it’s likely referring to Optimus Prime, given that he belongs to the Knights of Cybertron.

The title is confusing mostly because Paramount has already dated at least two more Transformers movies for 2018 and 2019.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Don Murphy and Tom DeSanto will produce the sequel with Hasbro, and Paramount will release the film on June 23, 2017. The Last Knight is the first instalment of the franchise released since a writers room was put together to pencil out the future of this series, so it will be interesting to see how it sets up any spinoffs!
