Transgender Actress Jen Richards Joins Cast of ‘Nashville’
Jen Richards is headed to Tennessee.

The Mississippi-born Richards announced her new gig on Tuesday, one day after teasing on Twitter that she was “muzzled” and wanted to share a big announcement but had to wait. On Nashville, Richards is set to play Allyson Del Lago who, according to The Hollywood Reporter, is “a tough but understanding physical therapist who helps one of the series’ main characters through one of their most hard challenges”. Grammy victor Rhiannon Giddens, of the group Carolina Chocolate Drops, recently signed on for the recurring role of Hanna Lee “Hallie” Jordan, a social worker with the “voice of an angel”.
I was already thrilled when one of my favorite shows, Nashville, found new life after having been cancelled on ABC by being picked up by CMT for a fifth season. Now, there’s even more great news on the Nashville front! Not returning to the fold are Will Chase and Aubrey Peeples.
Richards recently nabbed an Emmy nomination for co-creating, writing and producing the digital series Her Story.
She was also featured in I Am Cait on E! which followed the trans Olympian Caitlyn Jenner’s story. She is also a co-producer of the upcoming docuseries More Than T, and is also scheduled to appear on CBS’ Doubt this fall. Born in MS and now living in North Carolina, Richards is also an author, consultant and advocate working with various national organizations and media projects and has appeared on several additional TV series.

Nashville will make its CMT debut with a two-hour series premiere on Thursday, Jan. 5, at 9/8c.
