Though Coleman and Elijah didn’t seek massive publicity back in 2013, this isn’t the first “pregnant man” story to draw attention. With labor lasting for four days, Coleman felt that the blessed event was treated like “an experiment”.
He told his friends and family he was transgender when he was in his teens, and had been getting testosterone injections for five years. Nervously, they went out to get a pregnancy test. He said: “I took the test the same night”. His husband Elijah, a security guard, offered to give him a massage.
“I was shocked. It took a while to process it. But I was also busy figuring out how we could make things work in such a short space of time”, he said.
The couple, who live in Philadelphia, started dating in 2012 and a year later were tying the knot and scrambling to prepare for the arrival of their baby.
Kayden’s pregnancy went smoothly, but the birth was hard.
“Life has definitely changed, its insane how much life changed actually”, Kayden said to IE, “Priorities changed, things that I thought were important before have very little significance in life”.

And Kayden also suffered postnatal depression.

“It was tough. Kayden had postnatal depression for about a year”.
“I don’t feel like we should have been parents all along but I feel like we are great parents now”, he added. “People who say it’s a joy are either lying or they have a lot of help from family”.
“We are more than capable of loving our children just as much and just as efficiently as any other parent”.
The proud parents said they don’t plan on having any more children.
