In a social media video played on several broadcasters, five shots could be heard, followed by a volley of several more. The Dallas Police Department has released new footage of the officer-involved shooting that took place on Friday afternoon at Dallas Love Field.
Officials said one bullet hit an exterior glass wall and the rest hit the suspect.
“There were some folks in the security line who were startled, so they went through the security line without being checked”. Spokesman Jose Torres said that some people after hearing shots ran through security so everyone had to be rescreened. When confronted by the police, the man told them, “You’re going to have to shoot”.
Police said the woman involved in the domestic incident Friday was not injured.
“During the shooting, we believe there were some folks in the security line who were startled, and so they went through the security line without being checked”, he said, “So the airport made a decision to pull everybody back out of the secure area and recheck them for security purposes”.
Witnesses at the airport said that they saw one person being taken away in an ambulance and a black vehicle at the scene was taped off by police. Flights were departing but with many delays. After initially attempting to stop the man from throwing the rocks, the woman walked off to the side of the road.
They arrive at Love Field at about noon and the ex-girlfriend begins unloading bags. According to the flight-tracking website FlightAware, at least eight flights operated by Southwest and one by Virgin America were diverted to other airports.
Beattie said this is the first shooting in the history of Love Field, located a few miles from downtown.
