High pressure provided the Middle Atlantic region with a attractive yesterday with sunny skies and temperatures in the 50s.

Highs on Wednesday and Thursday should be in the mid-40s, with slightly cooler temperatures forecast for the weekend. A chance of rain arrives Thanksgiving Day, but it will be warmer with a high near 58 degrees, said NWS.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 54.

Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 32. High: 46. Winds: ESE 5-10 miles per hour. But, as it approaches our area on Thursday, it will begin spreading showers and even a few storms in to our area.

“Whenever you start to talk about heavy rainfall, you want to be prepared for flooding”, weather service meteorologist Mark Lenz told the American-Statesman on Tuesday. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Shallow, sub-freezing air behind the cold front will cause rain to freeze Wednesday night with icy travel possible in Nebraska & northwestern Kansas. Overnight, rain will continue to fall with temperatures falling in to the 40’s by sunrise Friday.

A trace of precipitation (rain plus melted snow) was recorded at the airport, keeping the November total at 2.78 inches, 0.93 inches above normal.

Saturday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 33. Euro says yes, GFS says no. My best advice would be to be ready for a tenth of an inch of rain on Saturday, but don’t be surprised if it does not materialize. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Rain may hold off along and east of the Interstate 95 corridor until Friday night.

Lakes Area Tonight: Mostly cloudy with isolated showers.
