Traveling Ranieri could miss Leicester clinching EPL title

Following their 1-1 draw at Manchester United on Sunday, Leicester will be crowned champions for the first time in their 132-year history if second-place Tottenham fail to win at Ranieri’s former club Chelsea on Monday. Now I go back to Italy and I come back at the same time of the match.

Ranieri, though, is travelling to his native Italy late Sunday to visit his 96-year-old mother.

In an intense affair at Old Trafford, it looked like Manchester United were going to deal Leicester’s title hopes a blow after Anthony Martial scored after just eight minutes of play.

United has three games left and City two, and United’s quest for a top-four spot was helped after City fell to a 4-2 away loss to Southampton, thanks to a Sadio Mane hat-trick.

In the day’s other game, Andre Ayew’s double ensured Swansea are safe from the threat of relegation as Liverpool’s weakened team crashed to a 3-1 defeat at the Liberty Stadium. At the beginning, it was wonderful.

“We suffer a lot because they press so high”.

“We didn’t start well and we gave them a couple of chances, and they got the early breakthrough, but credit to us, we fought ourselves back into the game”, said Albrighton. “We keep calm and score a goal”.

“We did not come here to win the title. I’m buzzing for the game and I’m confident we’ll do it, probably today but if not then Chelsea will definitely do us a favour”. The striker says that it is “going to be tough for both Arsenal and Manchester City” to drop points that will let United sneak in.

“They showed their character, heart and their soul. After that, you can get a result”.

But this game was all about Leicester, and whether Ranieri’s team – a 5,000-1 longshot for the title with British bookmakers before the season – could achieve the seemingly impossible feat that would rank among the biggest underdog stories in sports. He insists, however, that his players can not afford to be caught up in the planning of the celebrations.

“We have to stay there, on the pitch, and think there will be another tough match”.

The battle for Top Four technically could have continued if United had managed to pull a victory out against Leicester, but with the draw, they now sit on 60 points with three matches remaining in fifth place. It is logical, they are the future champions, not for nothing.

“I think we played one of the best matches of this season and it was significant that the fans were applauding a draw”. It’s a reaction. Every human being who is grabbed by the hair [reacts].
