Treasury further blocks N. Korea from USA financial system

The new designation falls under a law passed by Congress and signed by President Barack Obama in February – “the North Korea Sanctions and Policy Enhancement Act” – that requires the Treasury Department to determine if North Korea is a primary money laundering location.

United Nations member countries are now banned from purchasing the following from North Korea – coal, iron ore, rare earth metals, gold, vanadium and titanium.

South Korean officials said they have reached out to Trump’s advisers to underscore the importance of the USA military presence there, the Times reported.
