Trevor Noah Calls Ben Carsons Bluff, Proves Obama More Heavily Scrutinized

“The fact is, you know, we wish the media would be just as obsessed with Hillary Clinton’s lies over the years”, Priebus said in an interview on NBC’s “Today” show. “I do not remember this level of scrutiny of one Barack Obama when he was running for president”. “Of course, the stakes of the debate are highest for the two GOP front-runners, Donald Trump and Ben Carson”, Colbert said in reference to the latest Republican encounter, which will be hosted by the Fox Business Network and will take place in Milwaukee at 9 p.m. EST Tuesday night.

But, on top of THAT, the timing of his story doesn’t really add up, either.

Williams said Carson “has to understand…that when you enter a presidential race and you don’t have a legislative record – the only record you have is your personal biography and your extraordinary record as a pediatric neurosurgeon – that people are going to comb through everything that you’ve said, everything that you’ve uttered and they will challenge it”.

While a few, like Mediaite’s Joe Concha, are taking this as corroboration, all it really means is that Carson told her the same story (or stories) he told everyone else. Politico initially said Carson “fabricated” the tale, then dialed that back. Carson strongly disputed that there was any dishonesty intended.

“When you say that you stabbed someone and were saved by a belt buckle”, Trump said, “and that’s pretty unlikely ’cause a belt buckle will turn”.

“Gifted Hands” is central to much of the scrutiny.

In it, he tells of trying to stab a close friend when he was a teenager. At the moment, what seems like the most likely version of events is that Carson saw Westmoreland at a February Detroit event and may have been told that he probably could get into West Point (where all cadets receive a full ride in exchange for post-graduation service) given his credentials. CNN could not find anyone who could corroborate his claims of being a violent young teenager. The Wall Street Journal looked into the claim and found not a shred of evidence to back it up. His campaign later clarified that he never formally applied nor was admitted, but maintained that he was invited to apply by a local ROTC officer.

“They were very impressed with my incredible rise to city executive officer faster than anyone had ever done that before, and said that, you know, ‘Well, we would be able to get you a full scholarship to West Point, ‘” Carson said. Dr. Carson first spoke about that belief in a 1998 commencement speech and said last week it’s still his view. He is featured in the firm’s videos, including one from a year ago in which he credits its supplements with helping people restore a healthy diet.
