Trevor Siemian named Denver Broncos starting quarterback

His first pass went short to Taylor, who slipped a would-be tackle by Cariel Brooks and raced to the end zone on a 57-yard play.

Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak kneels down during the second quarter against the Los Angeles Rams on August 27, 2016 at Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium. Meanwhile, defensive end Kon Ealy added that “it don’t matter who’s back there…”

He put in persistent work over the last six months while fans fretted, pundits pounced and the front office scoured the landscape in search of Peyton Manning’s successor.

Siemian had little success as a college quarterback, throwing for seven touchdowns and 11 interceptions in his final season. “It’s my job just to go out there and make his job very, very hard”. I want to dedicate 2016 to football as I’m doing now. In March, Denver acquired quarterback Mark Sanchez in a trade with Philadelphia, absorbing his $4.5 million dollar contract.

McDermott does have a point, the book isn’t just out on Trevor Siemian. The Broncos have until 4pm ET on Saturday to cut the roster to 53 players, but head coach Gary Kubiak said there will likely be cuts on Friday, according to ESPN’s Jeff Legwold.

Despite being “another quarterback that for the most part is obscure”, Siemian can help Denver get off to a strong start as he continues to grow, Gruden said.

“Maybe that’s what it is again. That’s not right”, Sanchez said. “The league knows how our defense plays”. With Denver’s nasty defense, Manning was essentially a game manager.

The last time Trevor Siemian started a game that counted, he was escorted off the field by two Northwestern trainers.

“It’s great to be in the same sentence as that guy”, Ealy said.

As a third-string rookie behind Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler, Siemian’s only snap in 2015 was a kneel-down in a Week 15 loss to the Steelers.

Lynch consistently said throughout the offseason program, into training camp and nearly right until the time Kubiak named Siemian the starter, that he believed he had kept himself in the mix to be the starter.

Hence, we get stories like this one.

Boston said he’s been watching film of Siemian and praised his mechanics.

The Panthers _ while not overly concerned with Denver’s quarterback choice _ also weren’t publicly dismissing Siemian because of his dearth of experience. And because it appears to have come to him through self-education as a jarring awareness and stark reality, his response seems more akin to that of a man suddenly becoming aware his house is on fire than the result of a deliberately crafted articulation of a considered political position.

The Carolina Panthers will be looking at this as a chance to rain on Denver’s parade after getting waxed in last year’s Super Bowl.
