Tried hard to be versatile: Anne Hathaway
Robert De Niro is known for generally avoiding press and being a reluctant interviewee, though he has been working the media circuit while promoting his new film, The Intern, co-starring Anne Hathaway and directed by lover of great lighting and luxe kitchens Nancy Meyers.

Before nabbing the female lead in forthcoming movie The Intern, the Oscar-winning actress auditioned twice for two different Nancy Meyers films. We get it: he’s a 70-year-old trying to adapt to the modern world, but Meyers is a bit overzealous and clumsy with how she handles it. Likewise, while the idea of Jules is admirable, her character feels manufactured.
Given the front and back view of the characters, is there a time in your life when you said, why am I so anxious? Women over 50… I’m 65.
‘Jules is doing that big time and I certainly related to that’.
Don’t like that label… But why give it a label like that? But he cares about what he does so much. The movies have changed a lot.
“Tequila is my beverage of choice and now I drink it far more responsibly than I did when I was in my twenties”.
Hathaway warns that although The Intern is a romantic comedy, it is not a chick flick.
Meyers, the mastermind behind a list of favorite American comedies, including “Father of the Bride“, “The Parent Trap” and “Something’s Gotta Give“, said she wanted to try exploring a new kind of friendship in her latest film.
So this style of film has just fallen out of style.
Legendary actor Robert continues to show off his comedic skills in the movie. And I can’t thank the cinema gods enough!
This generation, they’re inventors. I was thrilled! You know how often I’ve written a dinner date where the two leads get to know each other.
Have a question you’d like to ask a celebrity?
Ben Whittaker (De Niro) is having a hard time in retirement. His neighbor (Linda Lavin), of similar age, expresses dismay that he would want to work in “e-commerce … whatever that is”, and wonders how it’s possible to sell clothes online.

Reflecting on her career, the “Les Miserables” star said, “This whole thing, everything that’s happened to me has been such a lovely surprise”. If you cut all the dialogue out of this movie and only heard the soundtrack, you could probably follow emotionally what is going on in any given scene.
