The crash happened between exits six and seven around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night.
As troopers spotted the vehicle and slowed traffic behind them to protect motorists, the wrong-way driver struck the 2010 Ford Crown Victoria, causing minor injuries to the trooper, according to police.
The wrong-way driver was described as “an elderly male with medical issues”. He was not injured, but is being evaluated.
The trooper suffered minor injuries and was sent to Cape Cod Hospital.
The crash is under investigation. He has since been treated and released. He is a resident of Cape Cod and was taken to Cape Cod Hospital for evaluation. The man’s medical condition precludes him from driving, the release said. Police are asking the Registry of Motor Vehicles to revoke the man’s license immediately.
