A Maryland state trooper noticed the Navigator, which was parked at the gas station, had expired plates as the trooper entered the convenience store.

The trooper is unhurt and the police officer was sent to the hospital with unknown injuries, ABC7 reported. The suspect has not yet been identified, according to FOX5DC.

As the SUV pushed the cruiser into the grass, pinning an officer inside, Shipley says the man jumped out. A trooper from the state’s aviation command came from a nearby hanger to the parking lot, and the two troopers watched the SUV.

The man then drove into the side of a Frederick City police vehicle that had just arrived, pushing the auto across the parking lot and up onto a curb, trapping the city officer inside.

At that time a Maryland State trooper fired his weapon at the suspect and struck him. The newspaper reports that emergency responders were performing CPR on a person and later put up tarps in the area.

“I was outside the truck and I just happened to be looking this direction when I saw the trooper with his gun out, just backing up”, Larry Haines told the News-Post.

Police say the suspect got out of the SUV and started to run from the scene. The man then exited the Lincoln Navigator and attempted to flee. When the trooper investigated, the suspect slammed the auto into the deputy.
