Journalist Ahmed Salkida, wanted by Nigerian authorities for his alleged knowledge of the location of more than 200 girls kidnapped by Boko Haram in 2014, was reportedly arrested. “So, immediately he boarded the plane from Dubai, we started waiting for him at the airport”, the source confided.

PREMIUM TIMES could not independently verify reports of Mr. Salkida’s arrest as efforts to get confirmation from the Nigerian Army, the Defence Headquarters, the State Security Service and the police proved unsuccessful.

After the video of the abducted girls was made public, the Nigerian army declared Salkida and two others wanted in connection with the video.

He said, “Accordingly, one Izuagie Mohammed was arrested in Benin City, Edo State on August 24, for impersonating the Accountant General of the Federation”.

He was released without conditions and all documents and devices confiscated from him were returned.

He pointed out that his return home would be quickened if the government could fund his trip.

It, however, added that two members of the sect, who were specialists in the making of Improvised Explosive Devise, were arrested before their desire to join the army was fulfilled.
