Troops battle-ready to defeat Boko Haram insurgents – FG
Authorities of the One Division of the Nigerian Army, Kaduna, on Monday told traditional and religious leaders in the state to be watchful in order to be able to foil the activities of members of the terrorist sect, Boko Haram, who are now being smoked out of their strongholds.

Fifty-seven escaped, but nothing has been heard of the 219 others since May past year, when about 100 of them appeared in a Boko Haram video, dressed in Muslim attire and reciting the Koran.
He noted that the military was making rapid progress in crushing the the Boko Haram menace in the North-east, stressing that hundreds of them were surrendering everyday while others were running away for safety.
The President outlined a number of steps being taken, adding that Nigeria and her neighbours Cameroon, Chad and Niger plus Benin are working together to face this common threat within the regional framework of the Lake Chad Basin Commission.
In his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Nigeria’s President called for the dismantling of safe havens for proceeds of corruption, and return of looted funds to their countries of origin.
“The Nigerian Armed Forces have renewed commitment to continue the ongoing coordinated joint assaults on Boko Haram in the North-East until the operations of the guerrillas are totally impaired and collapsed”.
His words: “Boko Haram celebrates violence against the weak and the innocent and deplorably, they hide behind their perverted interpretation of Islam”.
Speaking on Buhari’s participation in the UNGA, Ismaila said he is convinced that the President’s attendance at the meeting would attract benefits to Nigeria.
On the kidnapped Chibok school girls, Buhari said one of the major aims of his administration is to the girls alive and unharmed. “The girls are constantly on our minds and in our plans”, he said.
Last Thursday, in an operation supported by Cameroonian troops and the Nigerian air force, seven Boko Haram camps were destroyed and more than a dozen improvised explosive devices found in and near the town detonated in controlled explosions.
President Buhari condemned the new and unsafe dimension which human trafficking has assumed in the world.
Metuh who questioned the competence of Buhari’s aides/political handlers, stated that “there have been a few disturbing political trends in the country since the emergence of the President Buhari-led All Progressives Congress, APC, administration at the center which, if unchecked portend high risk for our hard earned democracy”.

He also expressed the UN’s readiness to support the Nigerian government’s efforts in its fight against Boko Haram, in full respect of human rights, global humanitarian and refugee law.
