Tropical disturbance brushes NC coast, heading out to sea

A tropical storm warning covered much of the North Carolina coast, where the storm should arrive today. “We are starting to see development”. It will be mostly sunny with a high near 91 and heat index values, or a “feels like” temperature, of about 102.

Heavy rain is expected to be the main hazard.

Monday: Rain and thunderstorms linger in Florida and spread into eastern North Carolina and eastern Virginia.

Invest 93L has become better organized in the past day or so, and it’s expected to grow and intensify this week.

A nice warmup is in the cards for Thursday, as highs return to the lower to mid 80s across most of the state. Rain could spread from SC to southeastern Virginia Tuesday and to MA on Tuesday night. Forecasters also expect hazardous surf, swells and strong wind with this storm. The system is now an area of thunderstorms just off the coastline of the state of Georgia, but is showing signs of organizing into a tropical storm.
