The average peak of the Atlantic hurricane season lies ahead. You should always be prepared & aware. It is expected to reach hurricane strength tonight and could send surf to east shores of Hawaii next week, depending on the strength of the winds and its eventual path. Westerly shear still at times up to 25 miles per hour is overwhelming any attempts at organization though there is persistent convection at varying intensity.

The models remain in disarray.

So, while this tropical wave is looking like less of a threat now than it did earlier this week, it’s still something to watch.

Meteorologists believe that system is headed toward North Carolina.

Tropical Storm Bonnie weakened to a depression just prior to landfall near Charleston, South Carolina, during late May.

“We are continuing to closely monitor the storms development and its potential impacts to Florida, ” Scott said in a press release sent out Saturday afternoon. Invest 99L near the Bahamas continues to struggle, though, potential development isn’t completely off the table. Heavy rain will likely continue to pound Cuba today, forecasters said, increasing the risk of flash floods and mudslides. “Areas from Texas to Florida along the U.S. Gulf Coast could potentially face tropical impacts”.

The system still appeared disorganized, as it has all week, and its heaviest storms were located to the south and east of its center, the hurricane center said.

Right now nothing. So much nothing that the National Hurricane Center made a decision to cancel its flight this morning. Highs, amid partly cloudy skies, will be in the upper 80s. Previous reports said that the tropical disturbance may strengthen and become a full-blown storm.

The storm system we are keeping an eye on is an area of showers and thunderstorms near the Bahamas. “Gaton” stays well out over the Atlantic & to the east of Bermuda but still lots of wave action, gusty breezes and rough seas & surf into next week for the island.
