Truck crashes through Pittsburgh FBI gate after police stop

A dump truck driver deliberately smashed his truck through a security gate of the FBI’s offices on Tuesday, injuring himself but no one else, but there appeared to be no connection to terrorism, an agency spokesman said.

FBI Supervisory Special Agent Greg Heeb said the large vehicle briefly went airborne after impact before it came to rest in an employee parking lot outside the building on East Carson Street.

Police noticed a man in a dump truck driving erratically along Carson Street. The U.S. attorney’s office said he had been charged with damaging government property, with the Federal Bureau of Investigation estimating damage in excess of $1,000. The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital.

“We’re trying to find out the motivations behind this”, said Mr. Heeb, adding that the FBI is investigating ” his mental state and history”. No listed phone number for him can be found. It’s unclear if he has an attorney.

He faces charges including aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, fleeing and eluding, and several driving offenses.

Ross is hospitalized and can’t be reached for comment. The driver was taken to the hospital.

The driver then did just that, intentionally hitting the gate outside the Federal Bureau of Investigation facility. His name has not been released.

The vehicle was disabled by security barriers after ramming through the gate, the Associated Press reported. “Pittsburgh police attempted to initiate a traffic stop”.
