Rescue crews have recovered three bodies from the wreckage, but officials say they have yet to be identified.
Efforts were underway to retrieve the bodies from the rugged area and positively identify them, coroner’s Chief Brian Elias said.
The three teens were believed to be in Gamboa’s white 2008 Toyota Tundra pickup truck.

The trio from Fontana told their families on Saturday they were going on a mountain hike, possibly near Mount Wilson. “As our students return to school from summer recess, we will provide crisis counselors to offer support on the Summit campus for students and staff. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families as they cope with this devastating loss”.
Family members of the teens attended a press conference at the Fontana Police Department on August 1.
Montrose search and rescue members trekked down the ravine to the crash site and discovered the three bodies inside.

The truck’s license plate matched the vehicle used by Daniel Gamboa, 19, Kasey Vance, 18, and Samantha Ornelas, 17, California Highway Patrol officials said Monday evening.
