Trump a ‘dangerous demagogue — Bloomberg at DNC
“God help us. I’m a New Yorker I know a con when I see one”.

While acknowledging that he’s an “outsider” to the Democratic Party, Mr. Bloomberg said it’s “imperative” to elect Hillary Clinton in November.
“Whatever our disagreements may be… we must put them aide for the good of our country”, Bloomberg said.
Bloomberg has toyed with running for president several times, and on paper it has perhaps sounded like an appealing idea to those in the middle-he’s a smart, actually self-made businessman who is socially liberal.
“Together, let’s elect a sane, competent person”, Bloomberg said, concluding his scathing remarks.
“I believe we need a president who a problem solver not bomb thrower…”
But Trump’s hardline approach to immigration alienated Bloomberg, who often makes the case an open immigration policy is needed to keep the nation’s economy growing.
“I was going to hit one guy in particular, a very little guy”, Trump said Thursday.
“I have a feeling that Bloomberg managed to move more actual undecided votes to Clinton than any other speaker so far”, conservative political commentator Andrew Sullivan wrote.
Bloomberg prefaced his speech saying it would be an “unconventional convention speech”.
Naturally, as soon as Bloomberg left the stage, the Trump faithful came out of the woodwork to discredit the three-time mayor. But at a time when some supporters of Bernie Sanders talk openly about not supporting Clinton-and apathy for her campaign more broadly threatens to doom her candidacy-Bloomberg pleaded with independents and disillusioned Democrats not to make the ideal the enemy of the good.
“I built a business and I didn’t do it with a million dollar check from my father”, Bloomberg said.
In the op-ed, he didn’t mention Clinton once, yet explained that his decision not to run was because “my candidacy could lead to the election of Donald Trump or Senator Ted Cruz”. This makes the support more genuine and motivated out of fear of a Donald Trump presidency.
President Obama was the closer Wednesday night, and he executed the job flawlessly, contrasting Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump in a way that you would hope won over even the peacenik meatheads who had heckled former CIA Director Leon Panetta earlier. “And we can’t afford to make that choice!”
