Trump accepts Republican nomination for USA president
It was the biggest night so far for the NY real estate mogul and final night of the 2016 Republican National Convention held at the Quicken Loans Arena in downtown Cleveland in the State of Ohio. “But Hillary Clinton’s legacy does not have to be America’s legacy”, Trump will say according to his campaign.

The prime-time address also featured Trump’s trademark audacity.
Mocking the pro-Clinton slogan – “I’m With Her” – Trump plans to say his pledge is “I’m with you, the American people: I am your voice”. “Nobody knows the system better than me, which is why I alone can fix it”, he said.
Ms Trump also painted the billionaire as an “outsider” who would be an alternative to the traditional politicians voters had exhausted of.
He talked tough on law and order – while vowing to ask himself, with every action he takes, “Does this make life better for young Americans in Baltimore, Chicago, Detroit, Ferguson who have as much of a right to live out their dreams as any other child in America?” After some verbiage about freedom and the Constitution, Cruz got to the heart of the matter: “I’m not in the habit of supporting people who attack my wife and attack my father”. Trump, I’d like to say what happened.’ I thought it was such a nice thing.
A lot has happened since then – not the least of which, her husband, Donald Trump, became the party’s official nominee for president.
Trump said he’ll negotiate deals with individual countries, rather than complex agreements involving many nations.
“He was great at winning primaries, now it’s the general election”.
Washington state delegation chair Susan Hutchison said she confronted Mr Cruz after his speech and called him a “traitor to the party”. He certainly looked the part when he went into the tale of a nine-year-old girl’s sad last goodbye to her policeman father the day he was gunned down in that Dallas massacre. Do you see how many police officers are here? “Voter turnout, grass-roots operations, that’s the responsibility of the party”.
LISA DESJARDINS: Some Cruz supporters, on the other hand, defended their man.
That theme is a stunning departure from Republican foreign policy orthodoxy of the past four decades, which defined American leadership in the world as muscular engagement furthering liberal democratic values.
He’ll also dig into his opponent, claiming that Hillary Clinton is proposing “mass amnesty, mass immigration and mass lawlessness”.
A political novice, he completed the greatest step yet in his improbable rise, accepting the GOP nomination to face Clinton, the former first lady, senator and secretary of state.
Trump’s acceptance speech came against the backdrop of deep GOP divisions. But instead of sucking it up and moving on, the Trump forces made a decision to orchestrate a demonstration against the candidate they had invited on to the stage. Many were embittered not just by losing, but by how party leaders simply refused to acknowledge the uprising.
The gathering’s open secret was that Cruz came to audition for 2020 – an ambition that largely counts on Trump losing this year and leaving an open field for the next election. His comments only added to the chaotic nature of Trump’s nominating event, which has been consumed by a plagiarism charge, unusually harsh criticism of Democrat Hillary Clinton, and Texas Sen. The aide responsible offered to quit, but she was turned down.
Eric Trump, the nominee’s second son, described the speech as “classless”.
Trump needed a strong performance on Thursday night to improve his chances of getting a boost in opinion polls as Democrats prepare for their own, more scripted convention next week in Philadelphia.
NY businessman Mr Trump, 70, will hope to allay party tensions and rally both Republican leaders and the millions of Americans tuning in for the address.
“Vote your conscience”, Cruz told the convention to a chorus of boos. GOP LEADERS REJECT TRUMP’S NATO COMMENTSSome leading Republicans are rejecting Donald Trump’s suggestion that if he becomes president, the USA may revisit NATO’s longstanding policy of defending its allies against possible Russian aggression.
