“After today, I think we move on”, Paxton said, reiterating his support for Trump and expressing hope that the nominee will offer specifics on his plan for the economy in his convention speech. Ted Cruz, R-Tex., addresses the delegates during the third day session of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Wednesday, July 20, 2016.
“Last night was not Mr. Cruz’s time”, Donovan said. On Thursday morning, Trump and Ivanka took the stage in preparation for his nomination acceptance speech, but right now a lot of attention is on Texas Sen. Trump retweeted a viral image calling Heidi Cruz ugly and suggested Cruz’s father was friendly with Lee Harvey Oswald. Overnight, Mr. Cruz went from being a hero of the conservative cause to a huge disappointment among many delegates. Abbott voted for Cruz in the primaries, but he is now supporting Trump. That thinks it’s possible to make a deal with Iran, which celebrates as holidays “Death to America Day” and “Death to Israel Day”, Cruz said. By not getting on the stage and endorsing Trump, Cruz broke that promise.
On Wednesday night, more than 2,000 delegates at the Quicken Loans Arena waited for Cruz to say something – anything – kind about Trump, but he demurred.
Cruz urged Republicans not to stay home on election day, November 8, and to vote their consciences for candidates in all races that they trust, who defend freedom and who are faithful to the Constitution. “It’s disturbing to me that people would boo someone for saying, ‘Vote your conscience.’ Are we all Pavlov’s dogs?” “If you love our country and love your children as much as I know that you do, stand and speak and vote your conscience”, he said as the crowd erupted into yells of anger and chants of “Trump!” The focus should be about “party unity and the risk that our nation faces if Hillary Clinton is elected as president”, he said. Ted Cruz over the speech he gave Wednesday night where he didn’t endorse Trump.
“Rubio comes out and as tepid as it may be, does endorses Donald Trump”, she said. “But, you know, there are plenty of people who have signed up”, McConnell told CNN. “He needed to toughen up like every other Republican loser of any nomination battle in the last 100 years since Abraham Lincoln and just suck it up, be a man and back the nominee that he was beaten by, fair and square”. In a preview of what he will tell convention-goers in his speech, he outlined a foreign policy strategy aimed at reducing U.S. expenditure and involvement overseas.
