Trump announces “major speech on illegal immigration” for Wednesday
I honestly think that Republicans are not really serious about winning the election; otherwise, they wouldn’t have fielded a largely divisive candidate as Trump.

The announcement on Sunday came after confusion in the last several days about whether Trump would come to Arizona.
One unsurprising thing these gyrations make clear is that Trump hasn’t given much thought to the details of immigration policy, despite the fact that it’s the centerpiece of his presidential campaign.
“The whole phrase of “illegal immigrant” connotes that the person, by just being here, is committing a crime”, Christie said, adding he also rejected an immigration enforcement role for police or federal investigators.
Trump has focused lately on deporting people who are in the USA illegally and who have committed crimes.
Earlier in the campaign, Trump had called for a “deportation force” to remove undocumented immigrants as well as the construction of a border wall between the USA and Mexico, a policy that has been central to his remarks on the trail.
The events have drawn large crowds of both supporters and protesters.
But by Thursday, he was ruling out any kind of legal status – “unless they leave the country and come back”, he told CNN.
Donald Trump once quipped that his supporters were so loyal that he could “stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody” and not lose any votes. All this won Trump headlines and a base of support from hardliners who feel perennially betrayed by the Republican establishment, even as it alienated moderates and caused Trump to be loathed by a huge number of Hispanics.
Trump Jr. went on to say that his dad is “actually having a conversation” unlike Hillary Clinton, who “basically will take into account only those who contribute millions and millions of dollars to her campaign”.
“If we don’t enforce visa expiration dates, then we have an open border – it’s as simple as that”, he said.
The speech has been rescheduled at least once.
Mr. Trump, who is expected to give a speech touching on immigration Wednesday in Arizona, is taking criticism from some quarters for softening his position on deportation since the Republican primaries. Meanwhile, his surrogates insist that nothing in his proposed policy has changed, unless there’s some element of it people don’t like, in which case he never said what he said in the first place. “You see someone who is engaging the American people, listening to the American people, hearing from all sides”, Pence told Tapper, promising that Trump would soon “articulate a policy” on the 11 million undocumented immigrants in this country. That, he said, “is a subject for the future”.
