Trump attacks media for questions about his veterans donations
Trump held a contentious press conference on Tuesday in which he blasted the media for questioning his commitment to donate $5.6 million raised during an event in January when he skipped a Fox News presidential debate.

Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, told reporters at a testy news conference in NY that the fundraiser, held in boycott of a Fox News presidential debate, raised $5.6 million.
The AP reported yesterday, for example, “Phone calls to all 41 of the groups by The Associated Press brought more than two-dozen responses Tuesday”.
Several said the checks were dated on or about May 24 – the date as Trump’s interview with the Post – and shipped out overnight. Washington Post columnist Chris Cillizza wrote that “if he said he raised/donated $6 million to charity for veterans group – the support of which he has put at the center of his campaign – then the media’s job, LITERALLY OUR JOB, is to find out who he gave to and how much”.
The donations Trump announced Tuesday were related to a January 28 fund-raising event for veterans that he held in Des Moines, on a night when Trump skipped a GOP debate due to a feud with its host, Fox News.
Amid reporters’ questions, Trump and his campaign have repeatedly offered conflicting accounts of how much money was raised and declined multiple requests to provide a full accounting.
Following Donald Trump‘s criticisms of the political press yesterday, various reporters have hurried to tell us that he is making a mistake.
Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has pushed himself into yet another controversy Tuesday by terming the USA media as dishonest and calling ABC reporter “a sleaze”.
It took Trump until May 24 to donate the promised amount to the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation.
“The problem here is the difference between what Donald Trump says and what Donald Trump does”, Clinton said. “Who got it? Who got it?’ And you make me look very bad”, Trump complained, taking on reporters in the room.
And that was basically the message from the Trump news conference: the media hates him and they are awful meanies. Elmets said she’s more qualified than the “xenophobic and scary” Trump. That morning, Trump went on the “Today” show and blatantly denied the charge, even though he’s previously admitted that it’s true.
“It is obviously a wonderful donation”, said Sue Boulhosa, the group’s executive director and sole employee. But in the way that Trump views the world, he tried to do something honorable-raise money for vets-and was unfairly rewarded with negative headlines.
But his campaign refused for months to disclose which charities had received the money, leading some news organizations and critics to speculate that the money raised was less than he had claimed.
He suggested he had hoped to keep the donations private.
According to Trump, the media’s sleaziness doesn’t stop with Llamas.
West Bloomfield-based Foundation for American Veterans was among the charities Trump released Tuesday after media inquiries.
“Donald Trump is trying to discredit veterans because we’re not being convenient props in his narrative of bigotry and hate”, said Perry O’Brien, an Afghanistan veteran.
Adding insult to injury, Trump insisted yesterday, “When you send checks for hundreds of thousands of dollars to people and to companies and to groups that you’ve never heard of, charitable organizations, you have to vet it”.
