The leader of Lebanon’s Hezbollah group has accused the USA and President Barack Obama of creating the Islamic State group, using the words of presidential hopeful Donald Trump as proof.

Conservatives opponents of the Obama administration have used the president’s middle name to highlight what they see as Muslim sympathies and Trump had for a long time claimed Obama was not born in the US.

Or, at best, getting a rise out of a crowd seems to be what Trump is all about. They’re so right. This was certainly not the confident victor that Donald Trump usually presents himself as.

TRUMP: “He is the founder of ISIS”, he said Wednesday night, using one acronym for Islamic State. I know what you meant.

Donald Trump said Thursday that even if he loses his presidential race to Hillary Clinton, “it’s ok”, because he’ll return to “a very good way of life”. I give him the most valuable player award.

“If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks”, Trump, 70, said Tuesday. She said the US could benefit from well-structured trade deals, contending Trump’s opposition to trade agreements is based on “fear”.

“I know what you meant”, said Hewitt. In the face of public outrage and a visit by the Secret Service, which takes such threats seriously, Trump said he was merely urging followers to vote, but the reference he made was after Clinton became president and began making appointments (“If Hillary Clinton is elected…”).

And Clinton was the beneficiary because the Trump Circus drowned out the damaging revelation that Clinton Foundation donors got access to Hillary Clinton’s State Department.

THE FACTS: The founder of the group was Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the head of al-Qaida in Iraq who was killed in a USA airstrike in 2006.

In interviews Thursday morning with CNBC and the Hugh Hewitt Show, Trump said he did not regret the charge. “Her only competition is President Barack Obama”. A White House spokesman declined to comment on the most recent remarks.

Trump frequently says, to contrast himself with Clinton, that he opposed the war – but in interviews before the invasion he did voice support.

“We are absolutely going to keep trading”. Would “Obama founded ISIS” give you, the hypothetical center-left swing voter, more confidence in Trump’s temperament?

“He’s the founder of ISIS, okay?” he added.

Before killing American-Israeli journalist Steven Sotloff in 2014, one IS militant said: “I’m back, Obama, and I’m back because of your arrogant foreign policy toward the Islamic State. despite our serious warnings”.

“We should never have gotten out the way we got out”, he said. He has invited Russian spies to penetrate Clinton’s emails and joked in a way that sounded like he was inviting gun enthusiasts – he called them “Second Amendment people” – to assassinate a president who didn’t agree with them.
