Trump backers sport ‘Make Mexico Great Again Also’ hat
It was one in a series of stark declarations that framed a sweeping plan to crack down on illegal immigration following his more measured tone earlier in the day, when the Republican nominee huddled with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto.

Donald Trump vowed Wednesday “there will be no amnesty”, making his case for a United States less hospitable to, and accessible for, undocumented immigrants.
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump addresses the National Convention of the American Legion in Cincinnati, Ohio, U.S., September 1, 2016. During the private discussion, Trump said the two “didn’t discuss” whether Mexico would pay for the wall Trump promises to build along the Mexico-U.S. border.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is reaffirming that people in the USA illegally can not receive legal status, despite recently suggesting he might be softening his stance on immigration. And in order to send a clear message that entering the country illegally will no longer be tolerated, he wants every undocumented immigrant “to return home and apply for re-entry like everybody else”.
Trump’s visit to Mexico came ahead of a much-anticipated speech on immigration policy set for Wednesday night in Arizona. “And I think they understand that”. If these events provided some comfort to the Republican establishment, wary of Trump’s brash style and Hillary Clinton’s lead in the opinion polls, it was short-lived.
Texas pastor Ramiro Pena, another member, said that the council was a “scam” in an email to RNC officials that was first reported by Politico. “Who pays for the wall?”
“We did discuss the wall”, Trump said during a brief Q&A session. Trump has said many things about walls and immigration, but some folks are equally anxious about his trade.
“You can’t just lump 11 million people together, or 16 million people together, and then maybe put them into a bucket like Hitler put Jews into a bucket”, said volunteer Hal Tilbury.
He says that Clinton talks about the families that would be separated if people in the country illegally were deported, but she doesn’t talk about families impacted negatively by illegal immigration.
President Enrique Pena Nieto had on Wednesday afternoon hailed as “open and constructive” the impromptu meeting he held with Mr. Trump, who later referred to the Mexican leader as his friend and a “wonderful” president.
Trump’s immigration plan stirs up emotions, not solutions.
The nativist tough talk shores up the base, while the seeming retreat from it is clearly meant to win him the support of more moderate white voters who think (not without cause) that he’s a bigot.

Speaking at a town-hall style meeting just hours after delivering his annual state-of-the-nation report to congress, Peña Nieto again defended his decision to host Trump in Mexico for a private meeting and press conference.
