Trump Backs Out of Bernie Debate

And had the debate gone well for Sanders, it’d help the case he’s now making: that he should be the Democratic nominee because he does better against Trump than Clinton does.

Donald Trump has officially squashed hopes for a debate with Bernie Sanders, saying it would be inappropriate to debate the “second place finisher”.

The idea of the two debating surfaced on Wednesday night, when ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel told Trump he had a question from Sanders’ campaign, asking if Trump would be willing to debate the Democratic hopeful.

On Baier’s program, Charles Krauthammer called Trump’s participation in a debate with Sanders “my idea of genius”, explaining “how can Trump lose” and that Clinton will be the big loser because “she’s not going to be there”. Bernard Sanders ahead of the June 7 California primary, saying it would be “inappropriate” to share the stage with the loser of the Democratic primary and help networks that have not been generous to charities.

When asked about what a win in California would say to the Democratic establishment, Sanders remarks, “I would think that it would say to the establishment that the people are sick and exhausted of establishment politics and economics, and they want real change in this country”.

The would-be Bernie Sanders vs. Donald Trump throwdown will only live on in the minds of comedy writers.

Despite Sanders persistence, the senator’s path to winning the majority of pledged delegates before the Democratic National Convention in July appears virtually impossible.

“I am delighted that @realDonaldTrump has agreed to debate”. The billionaire businessman said the networks could fight over the coverage – which he assumed would draw a massive audience – and whichever prevailed would be required to donate millions to a women’s health charity.

Good guy that he is, Trump chose to bail on the face-off with Sanders even though “it would be an easy payday” and took a swat at the uncharitable networks that just wanted to “make a killing” on the event in his disappointing but inevitable statement.

According to BuzzFeed, Hecker said the goal would be to host the event at the largest venue possible in California on Monday, the day before the state’s primary.
