Trump, Bayh hold comfortable leads in Indiana

Meanwhile, former Democratic Gov. Evan Bayh of Indiana has a solid lead in the race to capture the Indiana Senate seat from Republican Rep. Todd Young of Indiana. In the Indiana gubernatorial race to replace Pence, Holcomb only has a razor-slight lead over former Democratic Speaker of the Indiana House John Gregg by 42 to 41 percent.

Murray credits Trump’s running-mate, Gov. Mike Pence, with how he’s performing in the state.

According to Monmouth University polls, Bayh is up 48 percent to 41 percent over Young for the seat.

Monmouth polled IN residents on three statewide race and the results for the race to succeed Pence proved the closest out of the three.

In the presidential race, Trump had an 11-point lead in IN over Democrat Hillary Clinton.

A Monmouth University Poll has shed light on the race to fill several seats in IN, but it also shows the presidential race is favorably tilted for republican Donald Trump.

According to the poll, IN voters are more likely to see this move as Bayh just wanting to get back into politics (42 percent) rather than a desire to serve the public (31 percent). “This one could be even closer”.

IN voters face an interesting election this year in that two of the four major party nominees for governor – Holcomb and Bayh – were actually chosen after the primary winners withdrew from those races.

On Wednesday, the university released the results of that poll. The sample has a margin of error of +4.9 percent. Another 4 percent of voters say they support Libertarian Rex Bell, while 13 percent say they remain undecided.

The poll found 40 percent didn’t care.

The Monmouth University Poll was conducted via telephone between August 13 and 16. Only 29 percent report having a favorable opinion of Young and 15 percent say they have an unfavorable opinion of him. Monmouth University is in West Long Branch, New Jersey.
