“I’m happy to be able to stand with this in my hand for the team, happy that there was no one from ‘People vs. O.J.’ in my category”, she said.

Everybody expected Tambor to win the trophy so that before the first award of the night was handed out, host Jimmy Kimmel already gave the veteran actor an Emmy gold-it was a joke, but eventually became a reality as the night progressed.

Thrones still hasn’t won more Emmys than any TV series, however – Saturday Night Live has 45, but its an unscripted non-primetime series that’s been on the air for 41 years (season 42 of the long-running series will premiere next month). Courtney B. Vance did some politicking after accepting an Emmy for his role in “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story”.

Best comedy series writing victor Aziz Ansari, said he “wanted everyone to know, after careful consideration, I Am going with Trump”, demanding they remove all Muslim and Hispanic nominees from the Emmy ceremony which he said would make things so much easier “like the Oscars”.

The People vs O.J. Simpson cast got in on the Trump action as well, with Sterling K. Brown saying during his speech, “I was talking to Melania Trump asking her what should I say?” Rami Malek of “Mr Robot” and “Orphan Black” actress Tatiana Maslany overcame heavyweight competition to be named best actor and best actress, respectively.

Game Of Thrones toasted a record-breaking night at the Emmys, while Dame Maggie Smith triumphed for Britain at the TV awards. Maggie Smith won her third Emmy for playing Countess One-Liner on your parents’ favorite overpraised British costume drama.

Paulson, who played losing Los Angeles trial prosecutor Marcia Clark in the show, brought Clark along with her to the Emmys.

The 81-year-old won her fourth Emmy on Sunday for her role in Downton Abbey.

While Thrones lost in the drama acting categories, it took home best drama for a second straight year.

‘Last Week Tonight with John Oliver’ “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” won outstanding variety talk series.

“I find the level of discourse in this campaign to be horrific”, he said. “Y’all over here using your skills to protect best voice over in a French sitcom meanwhile I’m over here butt naked on CNN”. Streaming services Netflix had three and Amazon two.

During the second hour of Sunday’s ceremony, Kimmel announced that his mother had made 7,000 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for Emmy guests.

The Emmys proved more adroit than the Oscars at recognizing and honoring diversity in Hollywood’s top ranks, with trophies going to minority actors and behind-the-scenes artists including writers Ansari and Yang.
