Trump blames microphone for woes at debate against Clinton

“She also touched on climate change and Trump’s plan for climate change, race relations, women’s rights, equality, and, most importantly his tax return issues”. The biggest audience in US television history was the 114.4 million people who watched the 2015 Super Bowl between New England and Seattle. Trump has repeatedly threatened to deny financial support for North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, if they don’t pay more, a position that could cost the USA more than just money.

Who won the first debate?

Both candidates were putting a renewed focus on facetime with voters in the most competitive states during the lull between the first debate and the next major campaign showdown: the vice-presidential debate on Tuesday. The other two are set for October 9 and 19.

Of those who said they watched the debate, 59 percent said they believe Clinton won.

While Trump and Clinton have taken aim at each other regularly throughout this cycle, Monday night was the first time both presidential candidates shared a debate stage.

“I think Donald just criticised me for preparing for this debate”, Clinton said. “I thought he was okay, I thought he was fine. I didn’t want to say what I was going to say with Chelsea in the room”, Trump told ABC News in the US. “All the work we’ve done over the last eight years is on the ballot”.

But after negative reviews of his debate performance rolled in, Trump suggested on Fox News Tuesday morning he may be harder on Hillary Clinton in the next debate and threatened to bring up Bill Clinton’s past behavior. “And you know, I do have this old-fashioned idea that if I’m asking for your vote, I should tell you what I want to do”, she said.

Clinton brushed off Trump’s vow, saying: “He can run his campaign however he chooses”.
