Trump blames US Senator Durbin for blowing immigration deal
Trump has drawn criticism at home, from Republicans and Democrats and from overseas for the comments attributed to him.

Republican Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas, another senator in the White House meeting – who now claims Trump never said the words in question – said Nielsen backed his version.
Ivana Trump, who has three children with the President – Ivanka, Donald Jr. and Eric – said his use of Twitter was “actually not bad” as the media “change everything you say”.
“I don’t know where that guy went”, he added. “There is no other word one can use but racist”, said a United Nations spokesman. The Department of Homeland Security last week announced it would end protections more than 200,000 Salvadorans, and later in the week, the White House rejected a bipartisan immigration proposal, including a fix for people protected under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.
The Washington Mission’s demands follows issued by the African Union from its headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in which the organisation reportedly made clear its “alarm” at Mr Trump’s “very racist” comments. Dick Durbin on Monday reiterated the vulgarity he said President Donald Trump used in the Oval Office and brushed aside an attempt by the administration to suggest the president had used a different s-word.
Many slammed Trump’s reported remarks as racist, noting that the president reportedly suggested the U.S. take more people from “countries like Norway”, where the population is predominantly white, as opposed to Haiti and Africa.
Speaking to reporters in Illinois, Durbin insisted he was correct. “That’s when he used these vile and vulgar comments, calling the nations they come from “sh**holes” – the exact word used by the President not just once, but repeatedly”. Republicans will need Democratic votes in both chambers, but Democrats have said they will not agree to fund the government unless it is tied to an immigration deal. On Friday, he denied using that language. “I am the least racist person you have ever interviewed, that I can tell you”, Trump told reporters on Sunday in Florida, where he was having dinner with Republican House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy.
“I’m telling my friends on the other side – DACA and nothing else is not going to happen”, he said.
He said US embassy officials also responded to concerns about Trump’s comments by saying: “The US deeply respects the people of Africa and the people of SA‚ and values its partnerships with them”.
