The poll showed 39 percent of voters favoring Trump, 32 percent for Texas Senator Ted Cruz, 18 percent for Ohio Governor John Kasich, and 11 percent undecided or planning to vote for someone else.

The El Paso County Republican Assembly did a straw poll asking delegates who they preferred for president, Cruz won with 71% of the vote.
Roe quickly added that he doesn’t expect Trump to follow his advice. While Cruz’s campaign spent months recruiting slates of delegates and securing pledges, Trump only this week hired a Colorado state director.
Also as part of the expectations game, Cruz and aides are downplaying their own prospects in NY.
Cruz jabbed billionaire businessman Donald Trump in January for what he calls “liberal Democratic” values, reflective of NY – but the comment may haunt Cruz as he campaigns for the state’s April 19 primary.
In a typical year, when the selection of the presidential nominee is decided well before the actual convention, the naming of delegates has no real impact.
The Republican presidential primary race is revolving entirely around the Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Saturday.
A racy ad featuring Donald Trump’s wife continues to bring allegations from Trump that Sen.
A spokesman for the state’s Republican Party told The Columbian in an earlier interview the state GOP has invited Trump, Cruz and Kasich to visit the state, but has yet to hear back. Before Saturday’s statewide delegate vote, Republicans in each of Colorado’s congressional districts voted on three delegates.
“They don’t want the people mad at them who are mad at Trump, and who are going to demonstrate that in the general election”, he said. Kasich held a town hall event in Hershey, and both Cruz and Kasich appeared over the weekend at the Pennsylvania Leadership Conference, a conservative gathering in Harrisburg.
But as the convention approaches it’s not clear that any candidate will hit the magic number of 1,237 – the number of delegates needed to lock down the nomination – before the national convention begins.
“I think there’s a good chance [Cruz] wins 90 percent or more of the Colorado delegation”, former state GOP Chairman Dick Wadhams told the Hill.
Republican political strategist Stu Sandler said he thinks a contested convention could be more likely after Trump’s recent loss in Wisconsin, too.
Hundreds of Republicans gathered Friday and Saturday in Lansing to pick Michigan’s national delegates to represent the state’s Republicans at the convention.

“Ted Cruz divided to get a vote”, the narrator says. They love NY and our country. “Trump appeals to a certain type of right wing voter, but not one who cares about social issues the way that Cruz supporters do”.
