Trump catches Clinton in three swing states
Donald Trump’s poll numbers have crept up on Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, with Trump now within the margin of error in the three swing states of Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio.

The poll was conducted through landlines and cell phones, in live interviews, from June 30-July 11, surveying 1,015 Florida voters with a margin of error of +/- 3.1 percentage points, 955 OH voters with a margin of error of +/- 3.2 percentage points, and 982 Pennsylvania voters with a margin of error of +/- 3.1 percentage points.
While it’s impossible to know exactly why those numbers shifted, Clinton’s trustworthiness factor has likely taken a nosedive in the wake of the latest revelations over Clinton’s email flap, in which, while no charges are being brought against her, Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey called her “extremely careless” in her handling of sensitive information.
A total of 955 OH voters surveyed were evenly split, 41 percent-41percent, between Republican and Democrat, compared to a 40 percent-40 percent split last month.
Clinton lost ground on honesty and moral standards in the poll that showed tight races in Florida, Pennsylvania and OH, all swing states that could go to either party in November’s presidential election.
In a head-to-head matchup, Trump also leads by a margin of 41 percent to 36 percent when Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson and Green Party candidate Jill Stein are added to the mix.
There is a margin of error of plus/minus 3.1 percentage points in Florida and Pennsylvania and a margin of error of plus/minus 3.2 percentage points in Ohio.
“A majority of OH voters, 53 – 44 percent, say the ‘government has gone too far in assisting minority groups, ‘” Brown said. Still, the Trump campaign is catching up.
Quinnipiac University also polled voters in the swing states of OH and Pennsylvania.
Trump still leads among men, though his support narrowed slightly: 48 – 37 percent backed him this month, compared to 50 – 33 percent last month. A particularly telling moment was when Bernie Sanders reached out to give a handshake to Hillary Clinton after finishing his speech, but she made a decision to hug him in what seemed an unconvincing photo opportunity.

In addition, while both candidates remain unpopular here, Clinton’s negative favorability rating is higher than Trump’s. He leads 82 – 5 percent among Republicans, as Clinton takes Democrats 82 – 9 percent. She is also expected name her pick after the Republican National Convention ends July 21. Republicans support Trump 82 percent to 6 percent. Last month, Clinton led 47 to 39 per cent. “Although he is winning among white voters, who are mainly Republicans, victory in Florida will be a very hard life for him if he can’t do better among non-white voters”.
