Trump Chooses Indiana’s Mike Pence as Running Mate
The Times reports Pence was regarded by some establishment-aligned conservatives as a safe choice for Trump, whose unorthodox campaign style and policy positions have found him at times at odds with some members of the GOP establishment. Trump now claims that he opposed the Iraq war from the beginning even though he publicly said in 2002 that he supported an invasion.

“Mike Pence spent 12 years in Congress leading the charge on conservative issues, including defunding Planned Parenthood”.
“He’s conservative, and he’s smart, and he’s been good on trade and immigration as well”, Flake said.
Democrat rival Hillary Clinton, also appearing on Fox, said the United States needed to “stand strongly” with France and strengthen alliances, including with North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, to ferret out terrorism and prevent future attacks. Bob Corker said when asked about the selection on Thursday morning.
Merritt has been a friend of Pence’s since college and said he’s the right choice. Talks broke down Thursday between party leaders and recalcitrant conservatives seeking to “unbind” convention delegates and let them back any presidential candidate they’d like.
Trump, 70, is set to be formally nominated as the party’s candidate for the presidential election at the convention in Cleveland. He’s been banking on free media coverage propelled by his celebrity appeal. Clinton’s large batch of biographical ads has given her an opportunity to directly influence views about her image.
According to the poll, more than half of Americans think the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee broke the law and almost 4 in 10 think she did so intentionally. However, the law was put under national scrutiny because it was considered discriminatory. He followed up on that appearance with tweets supportive of Trump.
Trump had initially suggested he would wait until the Republican National Convention to unveil his vice presidential choice, IN law forced his hand.
Foes say they believe the movement is essentially finished.
Donald Trump is on the verge of picking his vice presidential running mate, with top contenders on standby Thursday afternoon for the Republican nominee’s decision.
That word comes from a Republican with direct knowledge of the selection process.
But some experts say the choice of Pence would not help Trump expand his voter base, especially among independents and moderate Republicans, to whom the Democrat Hillary Clinton is expected to reach out.
In a Fox News interview on Thursday night, Trump said Pence had done a great job in IN and that of all the people he had interviewed for the job, “there’s nobody that agrees with me fully on everything”.
“I think obviously Mr. Trump’s personality is a global concern, but I think the Governor will play a large role with his great speaking skills, as well as his connection to different parts of the party in America”, Merritt said.

After news organizations, including NBC News, reported that he had settled on Pence as his VP choice, Trump tweeted Thursday night that he would delay his formal announcement out of respect for the victims of the truck attack in Nice.
