Trump chooses Pence as running mate, ABC News reports
He returned to Fox in 2015. Trump will formally announce his pick for vice president Friday, although word of his final selection could leak sometime Thursday.

Perhaps more importantly, Trump is demonstrating that he can learn, and maybe even change.
The stunning announcement raised questions about the status of Trump’s selection process.
Earlier today, Trump asked Mike Pence to be his running mate, and the IN governor accepted, a source with direct knowledge tells ABC News.
“I haven’t made my final, final decision”, Trump said on Fox News Channel.
Brooks, also through a statement, says she has received encouragement to run, and she would consider doing so if Pence does end up being picked as Trump’s running mate. An attacker in a heavy truck drove into crowds celebrating Bastille Day, killing at least 84 people and injuring scores more in what President Francois Hollande called a terrorist act.
But the Indianapolis Star reported Thursday that he is dropping his re-election bid to run with Trump. Indianapolis television station WTHR posted a video showing Mr Pence arriving at a private airport outside NY.
The presumptive Republican presidential nominee is to officially announce his choice on Friday at 11am (15:00 GMT) in Manhattan. He’s up against a clock: The Republican convention kicks off in Cleveland Monday. Granted, it’s normal for a presidential nominee to give those assurances, but it’s a “normal” that Trump has repeatedly fallen short of (such as in his continued attacks on New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez, the chairwoman of the Republican Governors Association). I hope that (Trump) he picks a good movement conservative. The two men also shared breakfast Wednesday morning at the governor’s residence, where they were joined by Trump’s adult children, who are all influential in Trump’s decision-making process. But some of Trump’s children, who have been closely advising their father, are said to favour different candidates. Trump wasn’t his first, second or third choice, but he said the “fight is over”.
Gingrich suggests that he has yet to hear from Trump about his decision.
As governor, supporters cheered his focus on tax cuts, but critics have pointed to his predecessor, Governor Mitch Daniels (R) as the architect of the fiscal growth in the state, whose coattails they say Pence rode on, according to a report by The Hill.
All three of the finalists have had extensive conversations with Trump and his family in recent days.
“Paul Ryan is committed to doing whatever it takes to make sure Republicans are reelected on election day”, said Kevin Seifert, executive director of Team Ryan, the speaker’s political operation.
The former congressman also is a proven fundraiser with close ties to billionaire industrialists David and Charles Koch and their network of wealthy donors, many of whom have been dismissive of Trump.
Trump offered the vice presidential spot to Pence Thursday, and the governor boarded a plane for NY in anticipation of a Friday announcement, according to a Republican with knowledge of the process. However, those documents have not been filed. Earlier reports said Trump’s “gut” told him that Christie, because of his fierce attacking style on the campaign trail, was the best choice.
Gingrich was the most visible of the contenders.
Yes, Pence has opposed several of Trump’s signature positions, including on trade.
Pence’s one term as governor has drawn mixed reaction, and he has managed to alienate moderate Republicans over social issues.
“Donald and I get along very, very well”.
Gingrich is a boisterous rabble-rouser who has spent decades in Washington and helped define the political battles of the 1990s.

Some pundits thought Gingrich would be a stronger veep choice, because Gingrich – glib and shameless – would be unbridled at defending Trump.
