Trump clueless about Crimea

U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump has warned restoring Ukrainian control over Crimea from Russian Federation would cause World War III, U.S. broadcaster CBS reports.

In his tweets Monday, Trump sought to explain himself: “When I said in an interview that Putin is ‘not going into Ukraine, you can mark it down, ‘ I am saying if I am President”.

“And for Trump to both encourage that and to praise Putin despite what appears to be a deliberate effort to try to affect the election, I think, raises national security issues”. You know, he didn’t want to do it during the Olympics.

During a press conference in Florida on Wednesday, Trump voiced the hope that Russian Federation would release the texts of more than 30,000 emails which Clinton says she deleted – on the basis they were personal and not work-related – after using a private server while secretary of state. The alternative, he warned on Monday, could be World War III.

Trump has repeatedly said it would be good for the United States to have a strong relationship with Russian Federation. “Donald Trump should seek wise advice from members of the Republican party, who understand freedom, worldwide law and a free world”. “I don’t think I’ve ever met him”.

When Stephanopoulos pointed out that Russian Federation had already invaded Ukraine, an event that was front-page news several times, a befuddled Trump responded in his usual boorish fashion – by placing the blame on Obama.

The recent attacks have been fueled by a hack into the Democratic National Committee’s email system which many suspect the Russians are behind, and a comment Trump made last week, when he called on Russia to find Clinton’s 30,000 missing emails. He’s not gonna go into Ukraine, all right? He alleged the Obama Administration “forced” the Russians through stupidity into an alliance with China.

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton speaks during the final day of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia on July 28, 2016.

The dispute over Russian Federation is part of a broader disagreement over U.S. engagement overseas, as Trump argues that a weakened America must retrench and demand greater contributions from its allies, while Clinton asserts that decades-old USA commitments to foreign partners must be maintained.

“The person said but they’re already in Ukraine. What else doesn’t he know?” He added, “This is scary stuff”. “I mean, you know, you can send some people in”. “But it shouldn’t surprise us”.

The Washington Post reported two weeks ago that Team Trump made a special effort to alter the party platform on USA policy towards Ukraine. This comes on the heels of his tacit invitation to the Russians to invade our North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies in Eastern Europe. “President Putin has never had any contacts with Trump, never spoken to him, including by telephone”, Peskov told the network.

Trump’s main weekend target was Khizr Khan, who, with his wife in a hijab standing alongside him, addressed Democrats “as patriotic American Muslims” to decry the way Trump “consistently smears” Muslims and other groups. “I don’t think that it wildly swings what is a tough, hard relationship that we have with Russian Federation right now”.

Then on July 21, Trump’s chief policy adviser Sam Clovis defended the policy when asked about it at an event in Cleveland hosted by the International Republican Institute.
