Trump considers paying legal bills for man charged at rally

Now, Donald Trump is actively considering footing the legal bill for a supporter, John Franklin McGraw, who was charged with assault at one of his rallies, the Associated Press reported.

The months-long Republican race may be coming to a head at nominating contests on Tuesday where Mr Trump is seeking victories that may give him an nearly insurmountable lead for the nomination.

On the Republican side, Marco Rubio won the caucuses in the nation’s capital on Saturday and grabbed 10 delegates. The decision to cancel the event was made to prevent violence, he said.

“With all of the rallies I’ve had-and I get more people than anybody by, as you know, a lot, thousands and thousands of people, 25,000 is nearly getting standard-you haven’t seen one person even injured at one of our rallies”, he said. Some experts say party officials may act during the convention to try to stop Trump from gaining the nomination.

Later at the Cleveland rally, Trump mocked Sanders over an incident a year ago in which Black Lives Matter protesters confronted Sanders at a campaign event and pressured him into leaving the podium to allow them to speak.

Mr Kasich told journalists before a campaign event in Cincinnati, Ohio, that Mr Trump had created a “toxic environment ” .

The incident follows a rally in Chicago which was abandoned on Friday night after protests turned violent.

Trump called a man up on stage who was a legal immigrant, read poetry and was interrupted four times. This prompted him to say, “It’s a Bernie person”.

“I think anybody who understands Mr. Trump’s campaign knows that he tells the truth very, very rarely”, Sanders said on ABC’s “This WeekWeek with George Stephanopoulos”.
