Trump dances with black voters during visit to church in Detroit

The Republican presidential nominee told the congregation at Detroit’s Great Faith Ministries International on Saturday that he would fix the “many wrongs” facing African-Americans.

“They have no clue”, he told the congregation. “Im here today to learn.”.

Donald Trump has visited a black church in Detroit in an attempt to claw some of the minority vote away from Democratic rival Hillary Clinton. “Now it’s a little different from a Presbyterian church”, he said.

The Rev. Lawrence Glass, the president of the Council of Baptist Pastors of Detroit and Vicinity, said Trump represents “politics of fear and hate” and “minorities of all kinds have much to lose taking a chance on someone like” him.

While protesters kept a vocal presence outside the house of worship, Trump made a pitch inside for support from an electorate strongly aligned with his opponent
Hillary Clinton.

Donald Trump’s visit to an African American church in Detroit brought both cheers and protests Saturday – but one of the star attractions was a taco truck.

Before the speech, protesters chanting “Dump Trump” and “We’re going to church” tried to push through police barriers to gain entrance.

Detroit police said they were on site to protect the people and keep things under control.

“You’re talking to a real estate genius!” “Anybody who is in this church should be appalled”.

“What do you have to lose?” he said almost two weeks ago, rhetorically addressing African Americans in a speech before a white audience in Ohio.

People march in protest against Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in Detroit, Michigan on September 3, 2016.

Far more than even a typical Republican presidential candidate, Trump faces a wall of opposition from nonwhite voters. “Crime at levels that nobody has seen”, and asked them “what the hell do you have to lose?” by voting for him.

“I believe that Trump coming to Detroit is a joke, and I’m ashamed of the pastor who invited him”, she said.

“He generalized the total black community”. All three of them got involved in the service and were seen swaying like other congregants when the choir sang What a Mighty God We Serve.

In an incredible move, Donald Trump stuck to the script.

“He just sat down like a normal guy and answered the questions”, Jackson told CNN Saturday. He said presently America sidelines “young black men with tremendous potential” and said “our entire country misses out when we are unable to harness the potential and energy of these folks”. “I want to make America prosperous for everyone”.

Trump later toured parts of Detroit with Carson by his side, stopping by the retired neurosurgeon’s childhood home for a brief visit. “There is no new Donald Trump”, Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon said Thursday.

For Trump, courting black voters is a challenge. He records virtually no support from black voters in the polls. Many blacks view some of his campaign rhetoric as insulting, and racist.

Earlier today, Detroit-area officials denounced his visit as a ploy to use the city and its black residents to re-brand his image.
