“I thought it was one of the most disgraceful performances I’ve ever seen”, Trump said Monday of the Democrats’ fight against Kavanaugh.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says that the battle over Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation process was just the “adrenaline shot” the Republican party needed ahead of the potentially contentious November midterm elections.

The confirmation of Kavanaugh despite multiple sexual assault allegations enraged activists.

‘I think it’s an insult to the American public, ‘ Trump said of the organized opposition to Kavanaugh.

Speaking at a White House ceremony, Kavanaugh said: “Although the Senate confirmation process tested me as it has tested others, it did not change me”.

The teacher’s tweet was posted on the same day that Kavanaugh was confirmed to the Supreme Court by a bitterly divided U.S. Senate.

Trump continued defending Kavanaugh on Monday, saying the newly minted justice “did nothing wrong” and correctly noting that investigations found “no corroboration of any kind” from witnesses to what Ford, Swetnick and Deborah Ramirez claimed to remember from more than three decades ago.

Trying to bridge the gap between the roughly half of American women who opposed Kavanaugh’s appointment to the court and the roughly half who either supported it or didn’t have an opinion is probably impossible.

“We have a lot of women that are extremely happy – a tremendous number – because they’re thinking of their sons, they’re thinking of their husbands and their brothers and their uncles and others and women are, I think, extremely happy”, he said.

He tried to distinguish between President Donald Trump’s nomination of Kavanaugh this year and his own decision not to have the GOP-run Senate consider President Barack Obama’s high court nominee, Merrick Garland, in 2016. He hailed the vote at a campaign rally later that night in Kansas where he told a crowd “I stand before you today on the heels of a tremendous victory for our nation, our people and our beloved Constitution”.

It reflects a high water mark of the Trump presidency: Republican control of the White House, the Senate, the House of Representatives and the judiciary’s top court. Heitkamp said she was concerned about Kavanaugh’s temperament after his emotional performance before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

One of Kavanaugh’s most vocal supporters, Sen.

Kavanaugh was technically sworn in on Saturday evening in a private ceremony at the Supreme Court. Even before Collins had announced her “yes” vote for Kavanaugh, the page had raised $2 million-declaring, “Either Collins VOTES NO on Kavanaugh, or we fund her future opponent”.

“He’s a great person and it was very, very unfair what happened to him”, Trump said during remarks to the International Association of Chiefs of Police’s annual convention.

Democrats have said that an FBI investigation into the allegations that Trump ordered was too limited in scope to be useful.

Advisers and Senate leaders had urged Trump not to attack Ford publicly, anxious such a move would anger on-the-fence senators.

Kavanaugh said of his SCOTUS colleagues that he knew each of them, “each of whom I greatly admire and respect”.
