Ralph Nader called again November 10 for elimination of the Electoral College.
President-elect Donald Trump told the New York Times during a wide-ranging interview on Tuesday that his stance on taking climate change action will depend on what it costs U.S. corporations. It was interesting to see David Harsanyi lauding the foresight of the Founding Fathers in setting up the Electoral College. If the electoral votes of these states united are stripped away, what is there to unite?
Our Founders protected the interests of sparsely-populated states against domination by the others. A candidate needs to secure 270 electoral votes to win.
Our Founders considered election by popular vote, by Congress and by other ways-and rejected them all. The National Archives reports that 99 percent of electors have voted as pledged throughout the nation’s history.
Trump, who once called Electoral College a “disaster”, said a popular vote-only system would force candidates to campaign only in bigger states like California, Texas, Florida, and NY. After examining the exit polls from this month’s election, Bonier revealed an ironic detail about those who helped put the former host of “The Apprentice” into the White House.

Meantime, kudos to Clinton and Obama for their gracious statesmanship in accepting the results.
