Trump demands closure of Clinton Foundation

“The Foundation has already laid out the unprecedented steps the charity will take if Hillary Clinton becomes president”.

Note that there’s no denial of the claim from a camp famous for the parsing of words.

Established by former US President Bill Clinton, husband of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary, the Foundation engages in welfare work and charity. Donors also include the son-in-law of former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma, whose government was criticized for corruption and the murder of journalists, according to The Times.

“We’ll look back and say, ‘Why in the world didn’t Hillary Clinton’s campaign totally put us away in those two weeks?'” Conway said.

The Clinton aide told Fox News’ Bret Baier earlier this month that the Clinton Foundation “continues to be unfairly the subject of many partisan attacks”.

‘The Clintons have spent decades as insiders lining their own pockets and taking care of donors instead of the American people.

After Donald Trump on Monday called for the “corrupt” Clinton Foundation to shutter immediately, Hillary Clinton’s campaign fired back that it’s Trump’s turn to “stop hiding behind fake excuses” and “come clean with voters” on his finances.

Neither his letter nor the announcement last week directly addressed what long-term role daughter Chelsea Clinton, long presumed to be the organization’s next leader, will play in a restructured Clinton Foundation.

One email from a former executive of the foundation requested a meeting for a donor with the ambassador in Lebanon. He noted that broad progress on the environment, education and public health had been made, including millions of people getting access to affordable drugs to fight HIV thanks to the Clinton Health Access Initiative – covering more than half of the adults under treatment today. Foreign governments and corporations would no longer be able to donate.

But in announcing the potential changes, Bill Clinton also launched a spirited defense of the foundation’s work across the globe.

The Trump campaign began the week with a broadside against the foundation, distributing a research memo titled ‘Clinton Corruption: Ten Inconvenient Truths about the Clinton Foundation’.

“But we now need Donald Trump to explain to us the extent to which the Kremlin is at the core of his own campaign”.

“Neither of these emails involve the secretary or relate to the Foundation’s work”, the statement said. “Throughout the process, our top priorities have been preserving our most important programs, supporting the people who work for the Foundation and its affiliated programs, and resolving legitimate conflict of interest questions”. A suggestion that Russian hackers search for Clinton’s 33,000 missing emails led to questions about whether he would be committing treason by asking foreign agents to hack a USA presidential candidate.

And a recently released trove of emails obtained by the conservative group Judicial Watch showcase the sometimes questionable relationship the foundation had with the State Department while Clinton was part of the Obama administration.
