Trump Departs from Script to Accurately Quote Clinton’s ‘Deplorables’ Comment
Speaking to reporters after huddling with House Republicans behind closed doors on Capitol Hill, the IN governor was asked if he would amend his comment from a day earlier IN which he declined to call Duke “deplorable”.

“What Hillary Clinton apparently doesn’t know is the people supporting this campaign are hard-working Americans”, Pence said, adding that millions are “shocked and saddened” by her remarks. We should call these bigots deplorable, because they are. “The only reason David Duke gets play is because the media keeps him out there, not the Trump campaign”, Pierson said. “We don’t want his support, and we don’t want the support of people who think that”. Ted Cruz in his presidential bid, said that projection can be effective – but that Trump would be better served focusing on Clinton’s clearer vulnerabilities, including perceptions that she isn’t trustworthy.
When Hillary Clinton told a room full of wealthy donors and reporters in NY that “half of Donald Trump’s supporters” can be described as a “basket of deplorables”, it was hardly a gaffe.
Trump’s gaffes have been a byproduct of his off-the-cuff, bombastic campaign style, which has made it possible for him to spend next-to-nothing on advertising, but has created a series of conflicting, often untrue pronouncements.
Clinton is taking a day off the campaign trail, staying at her home in Chappaqua after stumbling at a 9/11 commemoration event on Sunday.
“Essentially you’re delegitimizing their attack by simply muddying the water, and saying, ‘We’re all guilty, now what?'” said Martin.
He went on to criticize Clinton’s comments, calling them “shocking”.
Trump, who earlier this month spoke at a predominately black church in Detroit, had said he meant to visit Flint on the campaign trail. Pence served in the House of Representatives for more than a decade before becoming governor of in, and unlike when Trump came to visit House Republicans in July, Pence was warmly welcomed by the GOP conference. “Racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic, you name it”. “She has not apologized for doing this”. She said Clinton may have mistakenly applied some of Trump’s attributes to his backers. “You know, Linda says Hillary’s been a ghost for 10 years”.
“Lord, when I look around this great crowd tonight I don’t see a lot of deplorable people”, said the minister giving the invocation.
“Let’s break out the thesaurus: Is David Duke “vile”?”

Pence’s reply echoes what Trump himself said on the topic during a speech in Baltimore. One of her advantages in this campaign is that many voters view her as more level-headed and tactful than Trump.
