Trump expected to endorse Ryan in Wisconsin primary

To make this extra awkward, number-one Trump fan Ann Coulter will be in Ryan’s district tomorrow to campaign with his opponent, Paul Nehlen.

He also endorsed senators John McCain of Arizona and Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, calling Ayotte a “rising star”.

“All my life I’ve been told, “You have the greatest temperament”, he said.

Mr Trump, she said, reminded her of some of her preadolescent patients with severe emotional problems. “He said he’s going to work with Paul Ryan”. He’s a miserable excuse for a congressman who thinks about nothing except his own political advancement-from congressional aide to congressman to House Budget Committee chair to 2012 Republican vice-presidential nominee to House Ways and Means Committee chair to House speaker to 2020 Republican presidential prospect.

Paul Nehlen’s comments on a radio show this week have drawn derision from other Republicans. “They call this alt-conservatism”, Ryan said. Nehlen gained national attention Thursday by suggesting the deportation of all Muslims from the US. Assembly Speaker Robin Vos called him a bigot. But Republicans warned that, in particular, Trump’s refusal to endorse Ryan could hurt him in a state that once seemed winnable for Republicans.

Trump pressed forward with his attacks on Clinton’s character during his next stop Friday night in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

In not endorsing Ryan, Trump mimicked the speaker’s words from a CNN interview in May before Ryan reluctantly endorsed the nominee the following month on Twitter.

“And we are confident in a victory next week regardless”, Ryan campaign spokesman Zack Roday said in a statement. “I believe we need Paul Ryan in leadership in the Congress of the United States”.

“No, no”, Ryan said.

Republicans in the state say Trump will have to boost turnout beyond what Romney achieved in those populous, deep-red counties in the Milwaukee suburbs, and those are populated with Republicans that traditionally pose a challenge for Trump: Upper-middle-class, college-educated white voters.

Between Trump and Pence, the campaign will have hit up North Carolina, Wisconsin and Iowa by the time the week is over.

In the statement announcing the team, Trump’s campaign also said he’ll unveil a detailed jobs plan on Monday at the Detroit Economic Club.

“The economy the media and the Clinton Machine is describing is an economy that doesn’t exist for most Americans”, Trump said.

Mr Ryan, who was earlier endorsed by Trump’s vice-presidential running mate, Mike Pence, is viewed by establishment Republicans as a possible presidential candidate in the future.

Trump’s endorsement emerged as he took other steps to get his campaign back on track after days of controversy and falling poll numbers that have given Democrat Hillary Clinton the advantage in the race to the November 8 election.

Donald Trump faced an all-too-clear sign of GOP divisions today in two Midwestern battlegrounds, embraced by party leaders in one state but ignored in another as he strained to overcome deepening concerns about his presidential candidacy. “The plane I saw on television was the hostage plane in Geneva, Switzerland, not the plane carrying US$400 million in cash going to Iran!” It was delivered on the same day that Iran released four Americans they had detained.

Johnson’s rare blend of conservative and liberal policies would normally make him rather unattractive to many voters – especially older, entrenched voters who are more comfortable with the traditional Democrat-Republican divide.
