Trump floats sports-themed convention night
I love the founders.

Is Donald Trump angling for a sports-themed convention? “I love what this country is built upon and it’s values, and seeing this is breaking my heart”, said the former MA governor and GOP presidential nominee in 2012.
Trump was introduced by Florida’s top Republicans, Gov. Rick Scott and Attorney General Pam Bondi. I can guarantee you this: “In Richmond tonight, it will not be a teleprompter speech”, he said.
While most are eager to keep Clinton out of the White House, Trump keeps giving many of them pause, the latest example being his comments that a federal judge’s Mexican heritage prevents him from fairly overseeing a lawsuit against him. Ignoring the millions who’ve voted for him is politically unthinkable, they say.
“I don’t think he got the scrutiny applied to him that is typically applied to a front-runner by the people running against him”, he said, lamenting that they were “firing at each other”.
In a heated exchange between Jeb and Trump during the ninth Republican presidential debate on February 13, the NY billionaire blamed George W. Bush for the collapse of the World Trade Center and the death of 3,000 Americans.
Paul Manafort, Trump’s campaign chairman, also insisted Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that his campaign is “not anxious about fundraising” and won’t be outspent by Hillary Clinton. Most Republican-leaning voters have abandoned any moderate political thinking. “That’s why I’ll be voting for him this fall”, Ryan wrote. “We as Republicans fail to communicate their message that affects them”. “If not, I’m gonna win but a lot of other people are not”.
Lanhee Chen, Romney’s former policy director, had been feeling the same way – until recently.
Defending his decision to back Trump even after their clear policy disagreements, the House speaker pointed to the alternative of Hillary Clinton.
To try to keep Trump, who is notoriously resistant to advice, on track, some on his team are turning more to his grown children – Eric, Don Jr. and Ivanka, as well as Ivanka’s husband, Jared Kushner – in the hope that they can exert influence.
“It’s like a bunch of babies”, Trump said, “a bunch of dumb babies”. “If anything, people are trying to find ways to diplomatically support the candidate”. “I don’t think he understands my problem, ‘” Romney said.
Far removed from Republicans in the southwest, Trump can be considered a monied, northeastern Republican – fairly liberal on social issues and conservative on economic issues, O’Halloran says.
While numerous attendees at the three-day retreat at the five-star Stein Erickson Lodge, some have chose to get behind Trump. “Now he calls me racist-but I am least racist person there is”.

Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski dismissed the idea of an intervention, and downplayed the significance of the victory speech, noting that Trump has used teleprompters on multiple occasions to deliver specific remarks. The calm atmosphere of Saturday’s rally differed sharply from the tension of Trump’s April appearances, when conflict between protesters and supporters led to several arrests and a fist fight Downtown.
