Trump hammers away at Carson

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee offered the most detailed proposal, which included recommending “close[ing] our borders instead of Guantanamo” and “institut[ing] an immediate moratorium on admission to those persons from countries where there is strong presence of ISIS or Al-Qaeda”.

The billionaire real estate tycoon, 69, pulled no punches during a Thursday night stump speech that devolved into a 95-minute rant in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the state that votes first in the presidential nomination process.

Trump’s assault continued Friday with a campaign ad posted on Instagram, featuring a video clip of Carson talking about how, as a young man with anger issues, he had attempted to stab his mother. Carson may be a brilliant neurosurgeon, but he’s an inept campaigner and a flagrant liar. “We don’t need either as president”.

Though Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump took the stage here in Knoxville Monday to the University of Tennessee’s fight song, “Rocky Top”, the candidate that showed up was a toned-down version of the rummaging quarterback that last week unleashed a torrent of tackles against his primary rival Ben Carson.

Marco Rubio, who is running third in most national polls, volunteered that “if you raise the minimum wage, you’re going to make people more expensive than a machine”.

It’s an odd strategic choice, given that the Republican field is dominated by candidates with no meaningful experience in or understanding of foreign affairs, and almost all of whom continue to think the 2003 USA invasion of Iraq was a great idea. He then laid out the Trumpized version of the pop-psychology analysis: “Now, if you’re pathological, there’s no cure for that….”

For starters there’s the obvious: Previous reports of Trump and Carson’s respective demises have already been greatly exaggerated.

“It hit the belt, and the knife broke”, Trump said, after pulling out an imaginary knife and thrusting it toward the audience. Trump also had a few thoughts about the voters and why they like Carson and his life story.

Mr Trump still either leads or shares the lead among most geographical and demographic groups, including wealthy and middle-income voters, people with and without college degrees, in the south-east, north-east, the upper Mid-West and the American West.

Bridget Miller, 43, from Stilwell, Kansas, said she had initially considered voting for Trump, but had switched to Carson.

Also, there may have been mitigating circumstances contributing to Trump’s tirade in Fort Dodge, Iowa – an astonishing series of insults to opponents and even voters that peaked when he suggested parallels between Carson and a child molester.Longtime Trump associate Roger Stone said the diatribe may have been partly the result of fatigue after several days on the road. I mean, ostensibly that’s what Trump was doing. “If you’re pathological, there’s no cure for that, folks”.

“It does not denote ‘incurable.’ That’s not the same”, Carson said.

Perhaps this very connection penetrated the barrier reef of Donald Trump’s self-regard when he was in Iowa recently. “He lunged that knife into the stomach of his friend, but, lo and behold, it hit the belt!”

In Gifted Hands, Carson describes racing to the bathroom in his house after the near-stabbing incident – and beginning to pray for God’s help in dealing with his temper. “God heard my deep cries of anguish”. “I can feel it like I feel a good location”.

“I would bomb the s**** out of them”, Trump said of the terrorist group. Give me a break. “How stupid are the people of the country?”

Pointing back to Rubio’s work on the Senate’s bipartisan immigration reform bill, Trump said the senator was in favor of “amnesty” for undocumented immigrants because he is of Hispanic heritage.
