Trump highlights need to stem illegal activities on US-Mexico border

And while Trump may want to “make Mexico great again also”, the people of Mexico weren’t particularly pleased with Trump’s visit on Wednesday.

President Enrique Peña Nieto revealed that while the two had discussed the prospect of building a wall between their borders, he had made it clear at the beginning of their conversation that the Mexican government would not be paying for it.

Mr Trump tweeted that he was “very much” looking forward to meeting the Mexican President.

In Cincinnati, the former secretary of state argued she knows diplomats – and Trump isn’t one of them. “100 per cent. They don’t know it yet but they’re going to pay for the wall”.

“Anyone who has entered the United States illegally is subject to deportation”, Trump said in a highly anticipated speech hours after his surprise meeting with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto.

But he remained unclear on exactly what would become of the 11 million people now living in the shadows, other than to suggest they would need to leave and come back legally if they wanted legal status.

Trump’s speech came hours after the Republican nominee met with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto in Mexico City. “This speech by Donald Trump tonight can only help”.

However, the Trump campaign defended the decision to travel to Mexico.

Trump also stressed assimilation, being tough on people who “abuse” America’s welfare system, and cracking down on sanctuary cities.

However according to reports Pena Nieto the cost of the wall did come up during their private talks. Monty was in the room earlier this month when Trump convened his Hispanic advisory council in NY, a meeting that left some with the impression he was interested in moderating his immigration beliefs.

The buildup to the speech was abruptly interrupted Tuesday night by the news that Trump would visit Mexico, accepting on short notice an invitation offered last week by Pena Nieto. “We will break the cycle of amnesty and illegal immigration”. On “CBS This Morning”, Kaine said Trump “didn’t have the guts to look the Mexican president in the eye” and demand that Mexico pay for the wall.

Trump didn’t back down on his plans to build a wall at the USA southern border.

“I believe in dialogue to promote Mexico’s interests in the world, and chiefly, to protect Mexicans wherever they are”.

Speaking of his plans for immigration into the USA, the Republican said he would beef up deportation agencies and restrict immigrants from places where “adequate screening” was not possible.

Peña Nieto disputed that characterization of the conversation between the two leaders.

“We will treat everyone living or residing in our country with great dignity”, he said.

Pena Nieto suggested there was room to improve the trade deal, which Trump described as unfair to American workers.

However at Phoenix, Trump pledged to deport “all illegal immigrants who are arrested for any crime whatsoever, and they will be placed into immediate removal proceedings”.
