Trump Holds Massive Lead In Home State New York

“If this result holds in every single congressional district, Trump will walk away with almost all of New York State’s delegates”, said Monmouth University pollster Patrick Murray.

“You’d lose all credibility with an eleventh hour “savior” candidate”, Rick Fernandez, a Cruz alternate delegate and chair of the Broomfield County GOP, told MSNBC. The Colorado Republican State Convention on Saturday awards 13 more delegates. That’s because the Cruz campaign is betting that in a head-to-head matchup against Donald Trump, Cruz would come out on top.

However, the strategist says he is confident the Cruz campaign will hit a rough patch, allowing Trump to win the 1,237 delegates needed to win the nomination outright. His campaign issued a statement describing the site as “symbolic of the strength of our country, and in particular New Yorkers, who have done such an incredible job rebuilding that devastated section of our city”.

The Trump campaign organization has always been relatively small, and in Colorado those organizing shortfalls have been apparent.

“We love NY values”, Kasich, who is running a distant third in the delegate race, said during a campaign stop at a Bronx deli.

But the Vermont senator must win 68% of the remaining delegates and uncommitted superdelegates, which would require huge victories in states both big and small, including NY.

As John Kasich puts his focus on newly important NY primary voters, he is attacking Texas Sen. Clinton’s odds of being the Democratic standard-bearer was 1 to 7, with Sanders at 9 to 2.

Hillary Clinton spent her Friday in the Western part of NY, holding a rally in Rochester and stopping in Buffalo to answer voter questions at a medical center.

Mr Cruz has been criticised for a comment he made in a debate in January, where he said: “Everyone understands that the values in New York City are socially liberal or pro-abortion or pro-gay marriage”. The reality-TV star is also leading in the delegate count, with 743 of the 1,237 required to clinch the GOP nomination.

In a divided year, unity was a recurring theme at this year’s Michigan Republican Party Convention.

If you want to be a delegate in California, it would be smart to profess your loyalty to one of the campaigns because they are aggressively vetting potential delegates – a total of more than 300 people for each candidate, including alternates.

Trump cancels events in California and Democrats have a caucus in Wyoming this weekend but everyone is courting New York Voters. Tracie Potts reports
