On Saturday, the NY newspaper published an article detailing failed efforts to make Trump focus his campaign on the general election.

In 2012, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney lost the state to President Barack Obama by 18 percentage points.

Breaking with campaign custom, the Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump, has refused to release his returns.

Donald Trump railed Saturday night at a campaign rally against high property taxes and job losses in this deep-blue state, pointing to General Electric’s decision to move its headquarters to Boston from this Gold Coast town as evidence of failed Democratic leadership.

Trump says he’s not running against the Democratic nominee he calls “crooked Hillary” but “the crooked media”.

Sean Spicer, RNC communications director, said in a telephone interview that abandoning Trump with almost three months to go to the November 8 election “doesn’t make logical sense”.

U.S. Republican Donald Trump on Saturday repeated his attack on President Barack Obama that he helped “found” Islamic State and railed against media reports that his campaign is failing, at a campaign rally in CT, a state where he has a long-shot of being victorious.

Malloy spoke against Trump’s candidacy in a New York Times interview in July, saying the brash New Yorker’s campaign “echoes the rise of fascism in Europe before World War II”.

CT isn’t typically thought of a battleground state, having voted in Democratic in every presidential election since 1988. No matter, Donald Trump says as he promises to pursue the Democratic stronghold.

“We are making a big move for the state of CT. normally that wouldn’t happen because a Republican, in theory, doesn’t win CT”, he promised.

“But I love them anyway”, the nominee quickly quipped.

Trump visiting CT, a heavily Democratic state, raised eyebrows among many Republicans.

Trump, whose visit to the Democratic stronghold was sandwiched between stops scheduled in swing states Pennsylvania and OH, had plenty of barbs for Clinton. “I will never ever forgive the people of CT, I will never forgive the people of Florida, and Pennsylvania and Ohio”.

Pence did not respond to questions by reporters in his hometown of Columbus, Indiana, Saturday, about whether he plans to release the returns.

The American public could see vice presidential candidate Mike Pence’s tax returns before getting to read Donald Trump’s, as the GOP running mate suggested he would release his documents before Election Day.

“I think he’s made it very clear, he’s going through an audit at this time and will release the taxes when that audit is complete”, Pence told WABC.

“We’ll look forward to making all that information available”, he said. “Nothing good in life comes easy”, Kaine said.
